How it works

1

New profile

kurama creates a brand-new Firefox profile so your existing bookmarks, history, and settings remain untouched.

2

Create user.js

A user.js file is created in the new profile; kurama writes preferences there so changes are isolated and repeatable.

3

Apply defaults

kurama appends curated default preferences that harden Firefox for security, privacy, and safer browsing.

4

Install uBlock Origin

uBlock Origin is installed automatically to block trackers and unwanted content out of the box.

5

Set wallpaper

kurama sets a desktop or profile wallpaper (visual polish that signals the new profile is ready).

6

Desktop shortcut

A shortcut is placed on your desktop that launches Firefox with the new kurama profile.

7

Optional advanced prefs

kurama prompts you, one-by-one, to enable optional advanced preferences so power users can choose granular controls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my existing Firefox profile be modified?

No — kurama creates a new profile by default. Your existing bookmarks, history, and settings remain completely untouched.

Can I undo kurama changes?

Yes. Simply delete the kurama profile from Firefox’s profile manager or remove the profile folder. Optional preferences are stored in user.js for easy editing if you wish to tweak them.

Is uBlock Origin required?

It is installed by default for protection, but you can remove it later from the Extensions page if you prefer.
